The planet is facing a big problem that touches everybody: the pollution. By all taking small actions we can all do a huge difference. This page mainly target students that are leaving family home to get an apartment near their school, but it also can be useful for everyone. So here are ten different actions we should all do at home to save the planet, ten really simple things that can do a big difference if we all apply them:

1. Recycling: help the planet by having two trashcans, one for recycling, one for usual trash. If possible buy recycled products.

2. When it is time to buy household appliances look on the energy label and prefer the A, B or C class that are a lot more economical.

3. Electricity: when leaving a room, always turn off the lights. When leaving the apartment, turn off the stereo, TV and computer. Leaving them open will cause an over consumption of energy.

4. When doing laundry, only start the washing machine when it is fully loaded. Only use the dryer if necessary.

5. When you have to buy toilet paper, tissues and kitchen paper, always prefer the recycled one.

6. If you want to paint the walls, use acrylics soluble in water without lead or formaldehyde paint. It is way better for the environment.

7. When batteries are dead, find a place where you can throw them away safely. It contains a lot of toxic products.

8. Try not to expose your refrigerator and freezer to the sun. The heat will make them consume more energy to stay cold.

9. In the bathroom, you can put a bottle full of water in the tank. This simple action can reduce from 50 to 80% the level of water used in the toilet.

10. When washing the dishes, use a half filled sink with soap. Never leave the open water.
